The 66th Army Day is being celebrated today.
The day is celebrated to pay homage and salute to the brave Indian soldiers who sacrifice their lives for protecting the country.
It was started in 1948 when General KM Cariappa succeeded the British Army General Roy Butcher and became the first Commander in Chief of the Independent India.
It is celebrated at all army command headquarters by organising parades along with other military shows.
The main function will be organised at the parade ground in New Delhi.
